Peter Pan is Disney's Next Live-Action Project

Peter Pan is Disney's Next Live-Action Project

Disney has officially announced the development of a live-action Peter Pan film. David Lowery is set to direct with Toby Halbooks writing the script. The two are currently working on the second iteration of Pete’s Dragon, which will release later this year.

This adds to Disney’s growing list of live-action films in development. They are currently working on Beauty and the Beast, as well as Alice Through the Looking Glass, Dumbo, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and more, with The Jungle Book opening tomorrow.

Peter Pan is perhaps the most tricky classic to attempt as there is a bit a fatigue from The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up. Hook, Peter Pan (2003), and last year’s Pan all failed to capture audiences in the way of Disney’s 1953 animated classic. Still, Disney has found much success with their recent live-action adaptations of classic films.
