Doom Shown In All Its "Gory"

Doom Shown In All Its "Gory"

Like Instead of "glory"..

Today at Bethesda's E3 press conference, Doom was finally shown off to the public and this time we got much more than a two second screenshot. The new Doom remains faithful to its predicessors by keeping the focus on fast movement and non-stop action.

The single player campaign appears to have open arena style combat with a big emphasis on utilizing a vast weapon wheel. Health is picked up by killing demons, so the best way to stay alive is to kill. The game also features brutal finishing moves that put Mortal Kombat's fatalities to the test. Missions will take place in a variety of locations both on Earth and in Hell.

Multiplayer seems to really step it up with some fast actioned arena gun fights. But what really mixes things up is the new map editor, Doom Snapmap. This mode will allow anyone to create the map that they desire, which should make for some fun multiplayer matches. Judging by the looks of the trailer, map editing will be simple even for the least creative players.

Overall, Id's long-awaited fourth entry in the Doom franchise looks pleasantly hopeful. Bethesda has announced the game will launch in Spring 2016.
