Halo 5 Is Big and Beautiful
October 27th cannot come soon enough
Microsoft started their press conference today with their biggest franchise of all, Halo. For the first time, we finally got an in depth look at the game's campaign as well as its new multiplayer mode.
The campaign is bigger and better than ever before. For the first time, the game focuses on squads. Up to four players can play co-op together over Xbox Live. In the demo, we saw Agent Locke's squad working together and this new squad based gameplay really mixes up the Halo formula. Players can now revive fallen teammates and the focus on working together to fight enemies is prominent. The graphics look better than ever before and NPC faces are now extremely expressive and lively.
The arena multiplayer that we got a taste of back in December was not the only multiplayer that Halo 5 will feature. 'Warzone', a new big team mode was announced today. In this mode, two teams of twelve players will face off against each other in maps that are three times the size of traditional big team battle maps. In addition to fighting members of the opposite team, players will also face off against hordes of enemy AI. There will be a large arsenal or weapons and familiar vehicles as well as some new ones. Perhaps the most exciting part is the addition of boss battles. Bosses will be worth the most points and the team with the most point, wins! This mode will run on dedicated servers and much like the rest of the game will run at 60FPS.
Halo 5: Guardians will be released Oct. 27, 2015 for Xbox One.
