Nintendo Switch Is Nintendo's New Console
The NX has an official name, and it is Nintendo Switch. Nintendo just released a trailer showing off their new console/hybrid device that will be released in March 2017.
The trailer confirms nearly every recent report we have heard about the console. The Switch will be a home console that can then be undocked and played on-the-go. The screen has additional side controllers (Joy-Cons) that can be detached and used to play games while the device sits on its back stand. The Joy-Con controllers can be attached to a shell, which will make it work like a traditional controller, or you can use the Switch Pro Controller which will be more like the Wii U Pro Controller.
Here is a look at the Joy-Con controllers when connected to the shell.
And this is the Switch Pro Controller. Not sure if the Pro Controller will be included with the system, though previous Pro Controllers (for Wii and Wii U) were always available separately.
Take a look through the pictures below to get a look at the tablet, the dock, a new 3D Mario game, two Nintendo Switch units playing four-player, and more.
The trailer shows Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a new 3D Mario game, Mario Kart (seemingly MK8), Splatoon, NBA, and even Skyrim! This seems to confirm the rumor that the NX will have Wii U games on it, but judging by the trailer, it looks like these Wii U games have some additional features.
Nintendo released this picture that shows a plethora of third-parties that are on-board with the Switch. We should be getting some awesome games on this machine.
More details regarding the Switch will be announced at a later date, but the trailer does still confirm that the device will launch in March 2017.
Here is a statement from Nintendo, regarding the Nvidia Tegra Processor, used to power the Switch.
Nintendo Switch is powered by the performance of the custom Tegra processor. The high-efficiency scalable processor includes an NVIDIA GPU based on the same architecture as the world’s top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards.
The Nintendo Switch’s gaming experience is also supported by fully custom software, including a revamped physics engine, new libraries, advanced game tools and libraries. NVIDIA additionally created new gaming APIs to fully harness this performance. The newest API, NVN, was built specifically to bring lightweight, fast gaming to the masses.
