Xbox Scorpio's Price Won't Be Unreasonable
Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has spoken about the future of the Xbox Scorpio, addressing some of the concerns that have been going around.
In an interview with NZ Gamer, Phil Spencer said the following in response to the concern that the Scorpio might be too premium of a console,
So you can see the price of the S today. When we designed both of these, which we kind of designed it in parallel. We thought about the price performance of what we wanted to hit with the Scorpio, relative to what we were going to be able to do with the S. So that we would have a good price continuum, so people wouldn't look at these two things as so disconnected because of the price delta.
Essentially this means that Microsoft would be foolish to price the Scorpio so high that it makes the S look obsolete. Pricing for the Scorpio is crucial, and it can make or break Microsoft's plan to have the Xbox One platform catch up with Sony's incredibly successful PS4.
Spencer went on to mention, "I think you will feel like it's a premium product, a premium console. And not something, anything more than that." The Xbox One is intended to be the premium Xbox One experience, but not the only one. The idea is to have the Xbox One S and the original Xbox One live alongside the Scorpio.
