It's Official, Wii U is Ceasing Production in Japan

It's Official, Wii U is Ceasing Production in Japan

Last week we reported that Nintendo was rumored to end production of the Wii U soon. We now have confirmation that the company has decided to soon end production in Japan.

According to Nintendo's Japanese site, "Production is scheduled to end soon." Keep in mind, this is only referring to the console in Japan. Last week, a Nintendo representative told IT Media that rumors of the consoles ending production in the West were false, and the Wii U would continue production, even as the Switch releases next March.

Of course, Nintendo could have plans to release a different Wii U in Japan, though that seems unlikely. Perhaps Wii U production will end in North America sometime early next year, we will just have to wait and see what the plan is.

The Nintendo Switch is Nintendo's next home console, and will release in March 2017. If you can't wait until then, Nintendo is releasing the NES Classic Edition, which comes out tomorrow! Stay tuned to Second Best Gaming as we will be posting an unboxing, along with some demos of Nintendo's cute throwback box.
