Did the Nintendo Switch Price Just Leak?
It looks like the Canadian Toy R Us site may have just accidentally revealed the price of the Nintendo Switch.
As spotted by NeoGAF user mdubs, the listing appeared on the website last night, which has since been taken down, and had the new hybrid console penned for $329.99 CAD (roughly $244.99 USD). If true, this means the Switch would be sold for about $250 in the United States.
Of course, this ad does not confirm anything, though if it is accurate, Nintendo will have a slightly better edge than previously expected. Launch versions of both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 can often be found for $250, though they both launched for much more.
The highly successful Wii was also sold for $250 at launch. This could be Nintendo's way of trying to gain that market back as much as possible. This competitive price range could really help drive system sales.
The Wii U was sold for $300 or $350 at launch, depending on which model you picked, and a lot of consumers thought that price was too high. It is important to note that Nintendo sells the Wii U at a loss, and has confirmed that they will sell the Switch at a profit, so it does raise some question on how the Switch could be sold at such an attractive price.
Nintendo should reveal the price on January 12, but until then, it seems like this price may be a reality.
