Reports Suggest Third Version of Pokémon Sun and Moon Coming to Nintendo Switch
Sources suggest that the Nintendo Switch will be getting a third version of the new Pokémon Sun and Moon game, called Pokémon Stars.
Eurogamer reports that Stars will release sometime in 2017, and has been in development for a while. If reports are true, this would be a continuation of the lost trend that developer Game Freak used to follow with the three version game rule. For instance, when Pokémon Red and Blue were released, the team later put out Pokémon Yellow. The trend continued through the releases of Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum.
This would mark the first time that a Pokémon game in the same generation has made its way to a different piece of hardware. Having two of the three versions on 3DS, while the third version is only on Switch would certainly change things up.
Since the Switch is a much more powerful device, it is said that Pokémon Stars will have a visual upgrade compared to the 3DS versions. If true, the Switch could potentially output a gorgeous looking Pokémon game.
Pokémon Sun and Moon just launched today, so in the meantime, play those. They're pretty cool games.
