Animal Crossing: New Leaf Gets Amiibo Support and Mini Games

Animal Crossing: New Leaf Gets Amiibo Support and Mini Games

Starting today, Animal Crossing: New Leaf will now support Amiibo and Amiibo cards.

Scan an Amiibo or card to your 3DS, and a Wisp will come in and bring that character to the game. In addition to the functionality working with Animal Crossing characters, Zelda and Splatoon Amiibo will also work, allowing you to bring chargers from those games into your town.

Here are some pictures showing off the Amiibo support and the new area, known as Harvey's Campground, where players go to meet new characters:

New Leaf is also getting two new mini games. The first one, Desert Island Escape, can be unlocked by finding a Wii U in the game. The second mini game is called Animal Crossing Puzzle League, and can be unlocked by finding a New Nintendo 3DS in the game.

The game's new camping feature allows players to go to a new town and settle once their current town is developed enough. Old towns can be sold to Tom Nook, though it is unclear whether or not you can return to an old town once it has been sold.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf also received additional bells and whistles, which are all included in Nintendo's latest Animal Crossing-themed direct. The game will be resold at retail in a special box that notes the support for Amiibo on it, titled Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome Amiibo. This new retail version will release in December, along with new Amiibo cards, and Zelda Amiibo.
