Sonic Team is Working on a New Game
Famitsu recently interviewed Takashi Iizuka, head of Sonic Team, about the 25th Anniversary of the Blue Blur. When asked about the future of Sonic, Takashi had the following to say,
"We at Sonic Team – are developing a completely new game, as well as developing a full movie, actively done by Sony Pictures, and animation on Sonic Boom. We are also ready to improve sponsor ties. The most important thing is not the fact the series survived for 25 years, but how many games [were] developed. Our goal – add something new and overcome any potential hardships."
Obviously the recent Sonic Boom series has been a bit of a let down, aside from a stellar animated show, but it seems like SEGA is ready to make a return to the main series.
Of course Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice will come out this Fall, and Sonic will be featured in the next wave of LEGO Dimensions, as well as Mario & Sonic at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
I know this probably comes as a surprise to absolutely no one but as a Sonic apologist, I am stoked!
