Nintendo is Researching VR

A year ago, Nintendo was saying that they don't see the fun in VR. Well that Nintendo is gone apparently because they just announced that they're researching VR.

At Nintendo's first shareholders meeting for the fiscal year, Shigeru Minamoto confirmed that the big N is currently looking into VR through research, though they're having some difficulties.

Miyamoto had the following to say, "Long play sessions are an issue. We want to release something that can be played for long periods, carries value, and is affordable. We want parents to feel at ease."

Keep in mind that these reports have yet to be confirmed by Nintendo. All the information was provided by Twitter user NSytles, who was at the meeting.

Nintendo's VR research could just be for understanding the market and the competition better. It could also be for future-proofing the NX. Either way, we do not know what this means for the company yet so stay tuned.

Shigeru Miyamoto also recently noted that the NX was absent at E3 to prevent 'imitators' from copying ideas. Hopefully this is a sign that Nintendo has something truly interesting to show us when the NX is revealed later this year. Perhaps the console features some unique VR integration.
