Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration Edition Announced
After almost an entire year of being console exclusive to Xbox One, Rise of the Tomb Raider is making its debut on Sony's Playstation 4, and in a big way.
In celebration of Lara's 20th anniversary, developer Crystal Dynamics has created what is known as Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration Edition.
Coming October 11, the release will feature all the content that was included with the Season Pass, which includes both story DLCs, weapons, outfits, and expedition cards. Those who pre-order the game will also receive a special art book.
In addition, the game is getting a handful of new modes as well. Campaign is getting a new difficulty called Extreme Survival extra-hard. "Blood Ties" is a new combat-free story DLC that lets players explore the Croft Manor. If you have PlayStation VR, you can use it with this DLC. The content will still be available for Xbox One and PC players, but with no VR support.
The second DLC is a zombie horde mission called "Lara's Nightmare", and allows players to fight off zombies in the Croft home.
The game is also getting a co-op version of Endurance. In this mode, two players will try to survive as long as possible, by finding resources and warmth.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is also getting some throwback outfits for Lara to wear in Expedition modes. This is a fun way to see old art styles placed in the modern Tomb Raider environments.
All of the new content will also be coming to Xbox One and PC owners, except for the VR features. If you already have the Season Pass, you will automatically receive all these new goodies when the PS4 version releases on October 11. Alternatively, if you do not own the Season Pass, you will be able to purchase each piece of content á la carte style.
