Nintendo Might Make a Controller for Mobile Devices

Physical controllers for mobile devices are nothing new, but Nintendo might be interested in bringing one to market.

Shinya Takahashi, Nintendo's general manager of entertainment had the following to say at the companies recent shareholder's meeting, "Physical controllers for smart device applications are available in the market and it is possible that we may develop something new by ourselves".

It would be interesting to see new hardware from Nintendo designed specifically for mobile devices. Nintendo does have a love for creating hardware, so maybe this is right up their alley. If Nintendo were to make some kind of physical device for mobile devices, I would expect for it to be very different from what we are used to seeing in smart device controllers.

Shinya Takahashi continued with, "Releasing applications for non-Nintendo platforms is one challenge for us, and we will try all kinds of things as we continue this challenge".

Nintendo has two new mobile games on the way, one being an  Animal Crossing title, the other being a Fire Emblem game, both of which have yet to be shown. It is possible that Nintendo has some unique ideas for these applications that can be executed with the use of a physical peripheral. For now we will just have to wait and see!
