Pokémon Company Will Make Games For NX
The Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara has confirmed that Pokémon games will make an appearance on Nintendo's next hardware codenamed NX.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Ishihara stated, "The NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a handheld device." This adds more weight to the idea that the NX will be hybrid console. Traditionally, Pokémon games are on Nintendo handheld devices only, and a traditional Pokémon game on NX could allude to the fact that the NX is portable.
Of course other games in the Pokémon franchise have been on Nintendo home consoles, but these are usually spin-off titles. Ishihara could be referring to some new spin-off entries, like hopefully a sequel to Pokémon Snap, but coming out to make this statement does seem to strengthen the preexisting rumors about the new hardware.
The NX now has a pretty sizable lineup of games that we know are in development, now we are just waiting on Nintendo to reveal the darn thing. The console is expected to launch in March 2017, so stay tuned for any upcoming announcements from Nintendo.
