Paper Mario: Color Splash Was Accidentally Released Early

Paper Mario: Color Splash Was Accidentally Released Early

It seems like Nintendo's next big Wii U game, Paper Mario: Color Splash, was accidentally playable two weeks ahead of its October 7 release.

Early this morning, Tweets started making their way around the internet that pre-ordered and pre-loaded digital copies of the game were booting up and playing as if the game was released.

It wasn't long after that NOA took down the option to pre-order the game digitally from the eShop. The game will probably make its way back to the eShop once the issue has been addressed. Still, it was a pretty neat few hours for those who got to play the game early.

Paper Mario: Color Splash is the latest entry in the Paper Mario series, and it was announced back at E3 this year. Many players were upset with the announcement and some even demanded to have the game cancelled. Color Splash will continue to delve into a more action-oriented experience, which is a departure from the classic Paper Mario RPG style. Even with the uproar caused by the never too dramatic internet, early impressions of the game have been well received.

Paper Mario: Color Splash will debut for real on October 7. Until then, kick yourself for not finding out you could've played it sooner, or you know, just patiently wait for the game.
