Scalebound Has Been Cancelled

Microsoft has officially confirmed that the Platinum developed game Scalebound has officially been cancelled.

Here is the official press release that Microsoft sent out:

After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for “Scalebound.” We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including “Halo Wars 2,” “Crackdown 3,” “State of Decay 2,” “Sea of Thieves” and other great experiences.

Scalebound was originally announced back at E3 2014, and has since been delayed numerous times. Last year, we saw an extensive gameplay demo that showed the game to be sluggish and rough looking.

Many have speculated for months that a cancellation was imminent, and it seems as though the rumors were correct. We even recently put the game on our list of games that probably wouldn't release this year.

The game was being directed by Hideki Kamiya, who previously directed the Bayonetta series. Since the cancellation, Microsoft has taken the game's page down from the Xbox website.
