GameStop is Out of Switch Pre-Orders
If you were hoping to get a Nintendo Switch pre-ordered through GameStop, think again. The major retailer has announced that, as of Sunday, they have already gone through their entire first allotment of pre-orders.
GameStop senior vice president of merchandising, Bob Puzon, mentioned that it is a sign that Nintendo's next home console is resonating with gamers. We'll see.
GameStop is apparently working close with Nintendo to try and get more units as soon as possible, and has promised to "let our customers know when they become available."
Pre-orders for the Switch began at weird hours of the night on Thursday, following Nintendo's press event. Many retailers have had pre-orders go up and down on their website over the weekend, but GameStop has been the first to confirm that they are currently all gone, until further stock arrives.
GameStop is not the only retailer that seems to be out of the Switch. Currently, Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Toys R Us, and Was-Mart are all sold out of the Nintendo Switch. Many sites are allowing users to sign up for notifications about when the device will be back in stock, but for now, it seems like the Switch will be hard to get your hands on for the time being.
The Wii U also saw great success in pre-orders, but then went on to be a dud for Nintendo. Perhaps the Switch will preform better than the Wii U, but we wouldn't recommend guaging the Switch's success based off early pre-order numbers.
