Disneyland Adventures on Xbox One is Pretty and Disappointing
I wanted to love it, but it's kinda lame.
When Kinect: Disneyland Adventures came out on Xbox 360 in 2011 I didn't play it because I wasn't about to go buy a Kinect, but this remaster on Xbox One fixes that problem by adding controller support. Unfortunately, that doesn't fix the fact that the game is no fun.
Poor frame rate, texture pop-ins, and other technical issues make the game actually less enjoyable. I'm usually the person that can look past a couple of technical issues and still enjoy a game, but in this case, the experience is actually hindered.
Next up we have boring mini games. They're pretty much all bad, although they do include some fun cut scenes. I really wish they just made all the attractions in the park ride throughs like on Roller Coaster Tycoon. Oh well.
There is a plus side. The game is really faithful to the actual park. It really is the best recreation of Disneyland I've seen in a video game, not that there have been a ton of them...
I really wish there would be a follow up game inspired by this game's concept, but with all these problems addressed, because I really want a nerdy Disney theme park simulator game. I'll do like Disney has taught me and keep dreaming.
