Middle-Earth: Shadow of War Officially Announced
Following a retail leak yesterday, Warner Bros. has officially announced that Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, sequel to 2014's Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, will release on August 22 in North America and August 25 in Europe.
Developer Monolith Productions will return for the sequel and promises to bring a new original story to the Middle-Earth universe. As seen in the trailer below, the game features a "Ring of Power" that gives players the ability to take on the strongest enemies.
Of course the first game's innovative Nemesis system will return, this time improved and better than last. Warner Bros. says that the way players interact with the game will shape the environment around them. This will also effect the amount of followers, which we assume means that you'll gain or lose followers based on your gameplay decisions.
Middel-Earth: Shadow of War is set to release for PS4 (including Pro), Xbox One (including Project Scorpio support), Steam, and Windows 10. The Windows 10 version will be an Xbox Play Anywhere title, and it is important to note that this is the first time we've seen a game officially announced to support Microsoft's next console, Project Scorpio.
The game trailer mentions that we will get our first reveal of gameplay on March 8, so mark your calendars if you care. If you don't care, keep doing nothing. You're doing great. Shadow of War will be available in a standard, silver, or gold edition. These various editions probably entail things like season passes and DLC items that will have the internet in an uproar.
