Project Sonic 2017 Officially Called Sonic Forces, Sonic Mania Delayed
During the Sonic the Hedgehog SXSW 2017 panel, SEGA announced that the Project Sonic 2017 will officially be titled Sonic Forces. The game is planned for a Holiday release for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
SEGA will release the official first look of Sonic Force's gameplay today at 12pm ET on the Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube page, but there are already a few off-screen videos that have surfaced online. Here is the best one we could find so far:
For me, one of the only genuine Sonic fans that's not some pervy-ass furry, this game looks f***ing cool as hell. Like Sonic Unleashed meets Sonic Generations, but on next generation hardware. Please don't ruin this, SEGA.
SEGA also announced that the upcoming Sonic Mania has been delayed to Summer 2017.
A SEGA representative released a statement regarding the delay to IGN:
"For SEGA, quality is most important. We stated this last year, and we are committed to doing whatever it takes to make Sonic games the highest quality possible. Though we like to go fast, sometimes, for a great game, you must also wait."
So basically the game has just run into a typical delay. This is actually quite good to see from SEGA, a company that is notorious for pushing games out regardless of their status (think Sonic '06) . Hopefully Sonic Mania will be a polished and fully finished product when it releases in whenever the hell "Summer" 2017. It better be, I have a Switch special edition pre-order for this game.
