Nintendo Switch and Zelda Sold Like Crazy Last Month
Nintendo has announced some sales figures regarding their newly released console, the Nintendo Switch.
During the console's launch month in March, Nintendo sold over 906,000 units in The United States alone. This makes the Switch one of the fastest selling systems of all time (sorry Wii U). Notable is the fact that the Switch launched in a non-traditional release month for video game hardware. In the case of the Switch, not being released during the holiday season seems to have helped the hybrid console.
What's perhaps more interesting are the Zelda: Breath of the Wild's sales. Not only is it the fastest selling Nintendo launch game and Zelda game of all time, but it sold over 1.3 million units in The United States. With 925,000 of those sold on Switch (460,000 on Wii U) Breath of the Wild has an attachment rate of over 100%. That's unheard of for a game. People actually like Breath of the Wild so much that they're buying it twice (or maybe scalpers are snatching up copies).
Of course Nintendo is working on getting more Switch units on store shelves, but for now, it's a typical Nintendo product that's nearly impossible to find. Good for Nintendo, hopefully the Switch will continue to be a success.
