Nintendo Announces The New Nintendo 2DS XL

Nintendo wants you to know that the Switch is not a replacement for the 3DS. In fact, they want you to know so badly that they went ahead and announced this little number on a Thursday night while you were setting your alarm for work the next morning.

It's called The New Nintendo 2DS, and if you're confused, so am I. See, Nintendo wants to make one thing clear, they want to make sure when moms and dads are shopping at their local Target they'll be so confused as to which 3DS to get their kid, they'll just buy a Switch out of frustration instead. Brilliant.

It's quite pretty. Weights a bit less than The New Nintendo 3DS too. What's it do? Everything The New Nintendo 3DS does minus the 3D effect. It'll run you $150 and it comes out on July 28 (which is the same day Nintendo is releasing both Hey! Pikmin and Miitopia).

You've got your extra Z shoulder buttons, the C-Stick, and built-in Amiibo support. In the US you can get it in black in blue as seen above, however, in Japan there will also be a white and orange version, 'cause they always get more cool stuff than we do.

Here's the real kicker... this one actually comes with an AC adapter.
