E3 2017: Metroid: Samus Returns Announced for 3DS

In what seems like an attempt to swoon over lapsed fans, Nintendo announced another Metroid game at E3 today during their Treehouse Live event.

Metroid: Samus Returns is a complete re-imagination of the original GameBoy game, Metroid II: The Return of Samus

The game is being developed by MercurySteam, the team that made Castlevania: Lords of Shadows. A new developer for the Metroid series, but not new to the genre.

The game features a free aiming mechanic, as well as a new melee attack option.

Metroid: Samus Returns will release on Nintendo 3DS on September 15, 2017.
