Splatoon 2 Will Launch With Nintendo Switch Online Phone App

Splatoon 2 Will Launch With Nintendo Switch Online Phone App

The Splatoon 2 Nintendo Direct this morning finally offered a look at Nintendo's online mobile app.

Not entirely sure this is the official name or not, but Nintendo referred to it as the Nintendo Switch Online phone app. Rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?

The app appears to offer a hub where each online game will have it's own channel with unique features. For example, the Splatoon 2 channel is called SplatNet 2, and features abilities such as reviewing match statistics, events schedules, purchasing gear, and connecting with friends of course.

Notifications will be sent to a player's phone when an invite is sent. This is the same app where players will be able to organize chat sessions, so expect to hear something about that ridiculous voice chat set up soon. Thanks, Nintendo...

The app will be free to download for iOS and Android and releases on July 21, the same day as Splatoon 2
