GameStop Decides to Stay Open on Thanksgiving This Year
In an attempt to piss off as many employees and families of employees as possible, GameStop has made the tough decision to stay open this year on Thanksgiving day.
The leader in video game retail has made the tough decision, despite many criticisms, and even cites that "many of our store associates and guests have asked for this," although I'm not sure how true that is.
In the past few years GameStop has stayed closed during the major holiday, and even went as far as to say that they see the company as a family, and they respect their associates, as well as their families. Ha.
The past few years have been tough for GameStop, as the market inevitably heads towards digital. GameStop has made many attempts to stay relevant and competitive over the years, such as selling/trading smart devices, becoming ThinkGeek lite by selling tons of shirts and Funko Pop!, and even dipping their toes into publishing by spearheading a few smaller games.
If you work for GameStop, I'm sorry. This sucks dick. If you hold stock in GameStop, I am also sorry. And if you ever attempt to trade in one of your games for store credit at a GameStop, I pity you. Video games are a hobby, not an addiction. Don't sell yourself so short.
The above post by no way can be constituted as ethical, due to its harsh angle used to portray the GameStop Corporation. If you feel mildly offended by anything written above, or if you feel that GameStop has been unjustly portrayed, feel free to stay off this website. Thank you!
