First Trailer for New Tomb Raider Movie Released, Please Don't Suck
The Assassin's Creed movie was about a year ago, so I guess we're overdue for the next horrible video game movie adaptation. Not to say they always suck, they've just never been not sucky.
Anyhow, here is the first trailer for Warner Bros.' new Tomb Raider movie, featuring Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft instead of Angelina Jolie, because it's a reboot.
It seems that this movie will stick pretty close to the source material of the recent Tomb Raider reboot video games, because everything's a reboot (only teasing, the new Tomb Raider games are excellent).
Of course it's unfair for me to write this movie off so soon, but at this point I think gamers have the right to take the "let's see you prove me wrong" approach when it comes to these movies. I mean, it doesn't look bad to me, but I don't know why this couldn't just be left alone as a game. Video games are more profitable than movies, and the video game medium works better for telling Lara's story.
Who knows! I could be wrong. Maybe quick-time events and deep character customization are just what Hollywood needs.
